3 Easy Looks for Picture-Perfect Grad Photos

As a photographer I get this question a lot: “What Would I Wear to my shoot?”

And my answer is ALWAYS to wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable. The shoot is all about you so wear what makes you feel good! It is important to remember that if you’re uncomfortable in your outfit, you’ll be uncomfortable during your session. These is a part of my definition of an easy looks.

And while I stand by this methodology for all session types, grad photos can be a bit more difficult. These are your graduation photos! You did an amazing thing, and you want to celebrate it (and you should)! Before we dive into the inspiration, I want to say I always recommend bringing your cap, gown, stool and tassel – it is so fun to incorporate these pieces into the main outfit in addition to the traditional dressed up shot.

So that being said, here are THREE outfit recommendations for your grad session as inspired by the grads I have been honored to meet!

Inspiration 1: The Statement Dress

As worn by Gabriella, Aqsa & Paige

This is one of my favorite methods! This idea follows the plan of wearing a bold single-color dress or a floral one with small flowers. This is so fun and also so versatile! This is also an unexpectedly easy looks to create!

Inspiration 2: The School Colors & Merch

As Worn by Emma & Emma

I looooove incorporating school merch into the session! Grab a sweater or tee shirt and bring it along to the shoot to show off your university! If you want something smaller to commemorate your school bring a little flag or even a stuffed animal mascot.

If you don’t want to wear your school merch as boldly, aim for your school colors.

Inspiration 3: The LWD (Little White Dress)

As worn by Eve & Breanna

We all know the little black dress, but the little white dress is a classic among grad photos. There are so many fun pieces out there I don’t doubt you can find the perfection one for you! I even wore white to my own grad photos (well, a blue top for my school colors and fun white pants! My personal style is all about easy looks.)

Let me know in the comments what you think of these ideas wan what you will be wearing to YOUR grad photos!
